Bill Maher isn't making any fans when it comes to his views on football player Tim Tebow. After the 24-year-old quarterback led his team, the Denver Broncos, in a loss Christmas Eve against the Buffalo Bills, the HBO late-night host (who's an admitted atheist) tweeted a scathing post with a reference to the football star's religious beliefs and famous pose.
"Wow, Jesus just f--ked #TimTebow bad! And on Xmas Eve! Somewhere in hell Satan is tebowing, saying to Hitler 'Hey, Buffalo's killing them,'" Maher tweeted.
It didn't take very long for the backlash to start from Tebow's ardent fans, who immediately took to Twitter to start bashing Maher, including calling for the cancellation of HBO subscriptions. And Fox News host Eric Bolling quickly turned the heat on Maher, Entertainment Weekly reports.
"Bill Maher is disgusting vile trash. I can't even repeat what he just tweeted about Tebow..on Christam Eve. #straighttohellBill," Bolling tweeted.
But Tebow stayed above the conflict, not responding to or acknowledging Maher's comment. "Tough game today but what's most important is being able to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas everyone GB²," the football star tweeted.
It's a nice-guy attitude like that which likely contributed to Tebow beating out the Jolie-Pitts and Jennifer Aniston as the star people would most like to live next door to them in the latest Zillow Celebrity Neighbor Survey, as reported by People.com. Who would be nightmare neighbors? For the second year in a row, the Jersey Shore cast snagged that honor.
